The Woodturning Group is a small one mainly because we meet in my garage and so I have to limit it to six people at one time. We meet on the third Tuesday and third Wednesday of each month from 10 am until 12 noon. No previous knowledge is required and the group provides the opportunity to learn a new or rediscover dormant skills. Although I have no specific qualifications in woodturning, I have 18 years’ experience of most aspects and have demonstrated to various clubs and groups. I have three lathes and a good number of tools.

Since we have been running, individuals have turned a variety of objects which include small bowls, gavels, cord pulls, bottle stoppers, mushrooms, vases and pens. One member has set up his own workshop, purchased a lathe and is capably producing pens and other objects for his friends and family. Other members have followed and are also turning at home a well as in the group. Between us we now have a number of skills that we can pass on. One member does not intend to have their own lathe but still enjoys turning within the group.
